What is the packaging form of RFID electronic tags?

In order to meet different application requirements, electronic tags can be packaged in various forms, such as card, ring, button, strip, disc, keychain and watch. The shape design of the electronic tag will be affected by the form of the antenna and whether it needs a battery. The basic principle is that the larger the electronic tag, the farther the recognition distance will be.

From the perspective of practical application, there are many packaging forms of electronic tags, which are not limited by standard shapes and sizes, and their composition is also varied, and special designs can even be made according to various requirements. Several typical shapes of electronic tags are introduced below.

1. Card-like electronic tags

Card-shaped electronic tags refer to packaging the chip and antenna of the electronic tag into a card shape. This type of electronic tag is also often called a radio frequency card. ID cards, city cards and access cards all belong to this form of electronic tags.

The ID card contains an RFID chip, and its operating frequency is 13.56 MHz. The card reader can be used to read the name, address, photo and other information stored in the ID card chip. The city card is used to cover the public consumption areas of a city, including buses, taxis, road and bridge tolls, and water, electricity and gas payments, etc., combined with radio frequency technology and computer networks to realize electronic charging in the consumption area on the public platform. The access control system is one of the earliest commercial applications of RFID. It can carry less information. The specific personnel allowed to enter will be issued with access cards. The reader is usually installed near the gate, and the reader can obtain the cardholder’s ID. information, and then communicate with the background data to determine whether the cardholder has permission to enter the area.

Bank cards can also use radio frequency identification cards. In 2005, a new commercial credit card system appeared in the United States——PayPass , which has a built-in RFID chip, and the traditional credit card has become an electronic tag. Cardholders don’t need to swipe their cards with magnetic stripes in the traditional way, but only need to put their credit cards close to the RFID reader near the POS machine, and then they can make consumption settlement. At present, my country is also promoting the upgrading of bank cards, using radio frequency identification cards to replace traditional magnetic cards, and can be integrated with city cards.

2. Label electronic tags

Tag electronic tags have various shapes, such as strips, discs, key chains and watches, etc., which can be used for item identification and electronic billing, such as airline luggage tags and pallet tags.

The keychain shape is also a commonly used form of electronic tags. This kind of electronic tag is designed in a capsule shape or other shapes, used to hang on the key ring, and its feature is that it is easy to carry. Some label-type electronic labels also have the function of pasting. On the production line, the labeling machine is pasted on boxes, bottles, etc., and can also be manually pasted on car windows or certificates. The chip of this kind of electronic label is generally placed on a thin piece of paper. In a mold or plastic mold, this film is often glued together with a layer of paper, and the back is coated with adhesive, so that the electronic tag can be easily pasted on the object to be identified.

Usually. Sticky electronic labels are called wet labels. Sticky and printable electronic labels are called blank labels.

3. Implantable electronic tags

Implantable electronic tags are small in size, such as making electronic tags into animal tracking tags, whose diameter is smaller than the lead of a pencil, and can be embedded under the skin of animals. Implanting passive RFID electronic tags under the skin of animals is called “chip implantation”. This method has been widely used in recent years. for information management.

4. Wristband electronic tags

RFID wristband are a wearable devices that incorporates RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. It is typically worn on the wrist and contains an RFID chip and antenna inside. This allows the wristband to communicate wirelessly with RFID readers. RFID wristbands find applications in various fields such as event ticketing, healthcare, access control at entertainment venues, and contactless payments. By interacting with RFID readers, these wristbands enable functions such as identity recognition, data transmission, and information storage.

Common Wristbands: RFID Fabric Wristbands, RFID Silicone Wristbands, RFID Paper & Plastic Wristband.

The packaging size of the label mainly depends on the size of the antenna and the power supply situation. Different occasions have different requirements for the packaging size. The small package size is at the millimeter level, and the large one is at the decimeter level. If the size of the electronic tag is small, its application range is wide, and it can be set regardless of the size of the item. If the electronic tag is designed to be relatively large, the size of the antenna can be increased, which can effectively improve the reading rate of the electronic tag.
